Due to the size of our house, whenever Adam and I change anything in our main room it feels quite drastic. It could be something as simple as moving the table a couple inches towards the window, and suddenly we have endless amounts of extra space. The smallest adjustment could mean a whole different house. Apart from the small changes that Adam and I have made as we’ve had ideas, we’ve also made some enormous changes. If the previous volunteer could see the house now, he might have a meltdown that we have ruined his house.
Since our arrival, nearly everything is different in the main room. We had a big shelving unit that was no longer a shelving unit and really just a breeding ground for spiders. We have since removed it, cut it to tiny pieces, and salvaged any useful scraps. Our first big purchase was a small refrigerator. It has enough space for a handful of water bottles so we can have cold water, and a small freezer for our chocolate! Next we moved a couple things around. The was a desk in the main room which we converted to our dishes holder, and moved to the corner. We have a small shelving unit that rapidly became the spices and juice packet holder. This seems to have a mind of its own, since we’ve moved it a good 3-5 times. And most recently have been the speakers we added to our accommodations. They sit on a small metal-topped table purchased the same day. I can hardly believe what it looked like when we arrived; I can’t imagine what our predecessor might think if he visits.
