We have made it to our lodge (the Chameleon Backpackers lodge) and are settled in for the next two nights. All eight of us are sleep deprived, and some even luggage deprived. Three people did not receive their luggage.
I recalled the flights being long from my trip to malawi, but I think these were particularly long. To London, our pilot sang to us with a harmonica accompaniment before take off. It was quite the start to the 23 hours on one plane or another. I got to london with no issue, and browsed for headphones (I conveniently left mine at home). I arrived at my gate, expecting to meet up with another kid on the program. He showed up less than five minutes after me, and we talked for a bit. what I did not expect was that six of us were on the flight to Johannesburg, and in the end sat in the same row. I later found out that it was by complete chance that all six of us sat together.
Johannesburg went fine, much to my surprise. Our visas caused quite the stir at immigration in at the Windhoek airport. But in the end they let us through.
All total I spent 36 or so hours in airports and planes. I am looking for to the next two days of relaxation in Windhoek, so we can catch up on sleep.
