Boom Boom Pow

Okay, now that I have some time to write, and can focus a little better, I’ll write a little more on site placement. I will be living in Nametil, which is about an hour and a half to two hours southeast of Nampula city, and it’s another three hours to the coast. I’ll be living with another volunteer from my group, named Adam. He’s fantastic, and will be teaching biology at the same secondary school as myself. I’m set to teach chemistry, but everything is subject to change. The two of us will be sharing a house in Nametil. It’s a lovely house, with a kitchen, two bedrooms, and an extra room that can be a spare bedroom or storage if we need it. The house has a completely fenced in back yard, which has a water spigot. It is so nice to have a spigot in the backyard, and might be what I’m most excited about. The house also has electricity, which will be nice as well. The house also comes with a cat and a turtle. To add to the petting zoo, Adam and I are thinking about getting a dog as a guard pet. It’s pretty awesome, not gonna lie.
As we approach the heart of the rainy season, Namaacha weather has decided to become a bit bipolar. During the morning and early afternoon, it is sunny and very warm. But round abouts 4pm, the clouds roll in, and life gets ominous. The last few nights, there have been some spectacular lightning storms. Here are couple photos I managed to take capturing the storms a little.
