Tender is the Night

Our house is fairly dark. There are a grand total of four windows in our house; one window for each room. But these windows are quite small, and don’t provide much natural light. So during the day, our house is pretty dim, but at night, our house contains the absence of light. It’s like a black hole, minus the bonecrushing force of gravity…
But a light has come into our world. More precisely, 100 lights have come into our world. Adam received in a care package a set of Christmas lights. The answer to your question is yes- I did just stop to count each light, rather than searching for the box they came in, which likely would have told me explicitly. Our house has gone from a dimly lit house that could wash out even the most vibrant colors life, and turned into a slightly less completely lit wonderland that warms the soul and helps me remember a world exists when the temperature drops below 80 degrees. The dreary cement walls and imposing corrugated metal roof have been transformed into a corner of joy and a multicolored reflector of the techno-color life. The night in our house truly has become tender.
